Philosophy
Victor Guevara is a versatile trombonist, educator, and media producer currently based in Houston, Texas. Recently named a finalist in American Trombone Workshop National Solo Competition (2025).Victor has an array of Professional performance experience including appearances with the John Creek Symphony, Athens Symphony orchestra and the Brazos Symphony Orchestra Victor has also participated in nationally recognized programs including the Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute, Southwest Trombone Conference, Rafael Méndez Brass Institute, and Southeast Trombone Symposium.
Equally passionate about education, Victor has worked with students of all levels through private instruction, masterclasses, and summer music programs. His teaching experience includes being an Instructor at the UGA Summer Music Institute, Low Brass instructor for Hays High School, and Madison County High School. Instructing and coaching ensembles at the Austin Trombone Camp, and Texas State Summer Music Camp. As well as Private lessons, Ensemble/chamber coaching, and Pedagogy lectures at the collegiate level during his time at UGA. He is dedicated to building confident, thoughtful musicians through a supportive and engaging teaching approach.
Beyond the concert hall, Victor has extensive experience in media production and arts communication. He worked as audio production staff for KTSW 89.9 and has coordinated social media initiatives for both the Texas State and UGA trombone studios. He also worked in production and livestreaming at UGA and has written publication work with the ITA Journal, combining his interests in music performance, technology, and audience engagement.
He attained his Masters of Music degree in Trombone Performance at the University of Georgia, where he served as a graduate teaching assistant.
Originally from Texas, Victor earned his Bachelor of Music in Performance from Texas State University, graduating. During his studies in Georgia and at Texas State, he has performed extensively with each of the schools top groups such as the UGA Symphony Orchestra/Wind Ensemble, the Texas State Symphony Orchestra/Wind Ensemble and even the Texas State Jazz Orchestra, as well as other various chamber groups, developing a diverse musical background spanning orchestral, chamber, and jazz settings.
